Simply re-opening the app after crashing would normally fix it. Unless the app decided to corrupt your save/progress which is very unlikely.

Hey, Each game is somewhat unique in terms of names used and how they store their data. To find out for the others, you can either try performing x action to see if it changes or updates any files (such as your example plist), or you'll have to reverse engineer the app to figure out how it works.
