No, works on all iOS versions that the app supports. Tested on 9.3.3.

What happens if you wait? Are you able to login first without tapping the usercard to enable the hack?

This is based on the app version, not the in-game version. Open the app's Info.plist and see what version the game is on there. This does not require update as of now.
