It depends on what you mean by cracking. If you simply want to crack you can use Terminal + Clutch. However since you don't have much knowledge about cracking and (I assume) what to do with it I'd recommend looking that up that first -

Nah, you get the hang of it after a few tries, the only annoying part is when you need to put the E3 on your PS3 Flash. Also the cable is very fragile so you need to be really careful when bending it.

Try to downgrade your FW, I know "illegal instructions" occurred for a few tools (such as LLDB) after a update in 2014. Hope it works out for you.
