Make sure you are putting it like this in hosts file: xxx.xxx.xxx.x game.clashofclans.net (click the return button here, this will make a blank space underneath it) Try this site for servers: HERE and this site: HERE (choose the white/left/ucs side, then click forum and then scroll to public servers)

With a jailbreak you can use iFile to edit the hosts file and add the servers that way. That's the only way it worked for me. Good luck!
