Updating won't remove anything. You're talking about restoring. Nope. You can't. They absolutely differ from each other.

I think updating will not work at all on disabled device. But just hope for the best.

Update will be fine. All things will be intact. Other way is to check if his PC detects the device as Camera or storage. If that's the case, he can copy all photos/videos. Also, try to use iPhone Explorer, iFunbox, DiskAid or any similar to grab his photos/videos before restoring in case update will not work.

The new update v8.0.2 patches the hack. If you accidentally update the app, uninstall it. Remove the Flex 2 patch then start all over again.

Update configuration.

Try to remove all related files of Facebook++ like cache files, plist, etc. Then run iCleaner. Remove first facebook. If still doesn't work, try the version before 26.0.

Do you have any related facebook Cydia tweaks or Flex patch installed?
