I don't think he used Hex Editing. He probably used cheat engines.

Malwarebytes is good and works. But it's like a secondary AV. Something you can install along AVG, ESET, Avast, etc.

That's what I mean, use your brain as an antivirus and stay away from untrusted stuff so you can get your internet working again.
