This is also happening to me, I have never used a third-party app for SnapChat. I'm guessing it's banning jailbroken devices. I'll try to bypass it when i have time tonight

I'm guessing it's because your ChromeCast connect to your initial wifi IP but when you change it using a VPN, it connects to the VPN's IP and not your router's. If you're able to see which IP the VPN uses, you could configure it in your router's settings and set the same IP.
