General Jailbreaking is risky?

I came here from EverythingApplePro’s video, and I was super interested. The sub was filled with hype over the impending jailbreak, and I have a jail broken iPad 2 from years ago when I wanted it just to get some Japanese apps that I couldn’t get any other way.

I was looking into jailbreaking my iPhone X, but it’s on 12.1.3. When looking into downgrading to 12.1.1 beta 3, I started coming across everyone’s problems in this sub.

“My phone is stuck in a boot loop!” “Is my phone bricked?” “How do I get my jailbreak back? My phone died and the jailbreak is gone.”

My impression of jailbreaking right now based on the state of everything going on is “very unstable, causes tons of crashing, and very risky, I might lose all my data or brick my phone.”

I found that my phone was at 1% while on video call last night and pushed through another 10 minutes until my phone died. If I was jail broken, I would have had to hang up to avoid my phone dying and then couldn’t use it until I found a charger.

But obviously everyone is still very into jailbreaking. So I would like to ask, what is it that draws you guys to pushing through the risks/hassle?

If you don’t know for jb don’t do it !

Before jb back up all your data to your computer so if your phone stuck in boot loop ( not broken or it dead ) you can update to latest version of ios and restore your data easy and wait for another jb ( my phone stucked it boot loop 11.3.1 Electra so i jb on Unc0ver 👌)

Those very common comments can be very misleading as they usually over exaggerate or use the terms for something else that is not actually what it sounds like. For example... they are all pretty similar but here's one; "My phone died and the jailbreak is gone." Your phone cannot just just 'die' from software not being bootable, that would be extremely bad software design. Sure it is possible to lose your jailbreak as in it will not boot cause something has changed system files and it cannot boot in its current state, but that is more and more unlikely as less tweaks modify system files (so incompatibility doesn't effect future or other OS versions) for that reason. Even if they manage to get them selves into that situation somehow by not thinking smartly then it is easy as connecting it to iTunes and going to the latest version of iOS (stock).

Simply put, as long as you aren't stupid and create the risks there isn't really going to be risks that come to you incidentally.

There aren't many likely risks, you should be fine, however because you are on the version the exploits were patched on and you aren't already jailbroken and have saved the blobs you cannot downgrade as that is the requirement to do so.

Your options: Buy a device on iOS 12.0 ~ 12.1.2 (for iOS 12 jailbreak) or wait till the iOS 13 jailbreak comes out.

It would be best to either stay on the version you are on to wait for a jailbreak on that version if exploits don't work on iOS 13 they may be released and used on iOS 12. Otherwise go to iOS 13 when the first public release releases and stay on it and wait for a jailbreak. You can update to a later more stable version after the jailbreak comes out as long as you save your blobs (for every version preferably). It's your choice whichever you think will get a jailbreak first.

Oh forgot 1 thing delete the software ( latest update ) from settings it’s in general>iphone storage> Look like this 12.2.1 just delete it and your phone won't stop at bootloop ( the software update is 1st reason to jailbreak issues )

Hmm, interesting...never had bootloop or iPhone dying at 1% drain in recent unc0ver JB mode.

well in nonJb mode, I had that 1% problem on my iPhone 6+ in stock mode. Now it’s my paperweight..

no point been scare to JB, you can always go into DFU mode to manually full restore. Or use blob to downgrade.

but of course recommend you only JB on a 2ndary device, not as your daily driver iDevice. You never know when a application you may need to use, must be in stock iOS mode or at work / school.

I had always kept all my iPhoneX on stock mode, meanwhile iPad Pro 9.7 and iPad mini 4 on JB mode. Choose one or another for gaming and modding.

closed iOS 13 developer beta is released, looking at it drives me nuts. many bugs from iOS 12 do not exist. Annoying is there is an new algorithm in place for root access. Likely going to be another long wait for new iOS JB on 13 or likely not going to happen..
