Apple is probably not the only company doing this.

No, Apple stated this themselves.

Perhaps yes. That could be another perk of them slowing down old devices.

As I stated above, I’ve had the unexpected shutdown problems on my old i6 on iOS 8.4.

Ita not really smthn to make ppl buy new macs but to make everyone get the new mac os and then show off in the next keynote saying '69% upgraded to the latest os but only 2% windoge users upgraded to windoge 10" . Like my csgo and rocket league started lagging like sh!t on lowest settings and i upgraded to high sierra and everything became fine . They added metal 2 and said it will give major performance boost . So first they slow down the macs and then claim metal 2 did the work to make it fast

Updating your OS isn’t as major as having to upgrade your whole phone or replace a battery. I’m unsure if they can slow down old operating systems without a small update. Unless they have like a lever they pull and it automatically slows them down?

Would've been cool if they let you enable/disable it or even choose how much you wanted it to slow down.
Just slowing down phones without the user knowing is kinda evil but I guess Apple made the phone and you bought it, so it's up to them :/.

ios 10.2.1 introduced it to A9 and older devices. Some version of ios 11 introduced it to A10. A11 devices dont have it

yes its a lever , the day after the update rolled out , chaos for me , 2 weeks later when i upgraded , everything back to normal . They can roll out automatic updates widout user permission

Not that big a deal as long as the device works fine , but a good way to push ppl to latest os and then show off
