This is really easy but u have to follow these steps:

1. Login ur Gamecenter account (using for the main character at the moment)
2. Go into game, choose setting, press "Connect"
3. Quit app (completely quit, slide up to close app)
4. Go into game again to check if the gamecenter is connect. (If it show disconnect button then ur good to go)

Every new content u do in-game must be doing 4 steps above for 2-3 times to make sure that ur progress is saved !  For me im doing these step whenever i collect new stuff, get to new level or some new content ...etc. It did help alot when i delete app and install new mod app

Sorry i forgot to mention that u have to reset ur device in other to install new version from appstore. 

1. Delete mod app
2. Turn off device
3. Turn it back on
4. Install new version from appstore

Thats pretty much it ! hope u get pass the 1.5.3
