We're working on fixing some bugs and will have the full changelog soon. 0.4.0.1 should not have any major changes or issues for rootful to cause it to break. Please uninstall and reinstall and make sure you're installing the rootful iGameGod as you seem to have a rootful Jailbreak.

No, if it's working fine for you then you do not really need this.

No, you do not necessarily need it. For theos you can simply run it on Windows Subsystem Linux or directly on your device. Patching IPAs and modifying them also does not require macOS. Even sideloading is now available on Windows thanks to tools like Sideloadly.
