No I think he just got mixed up. He though you needed the other (down) repo to use this (old) repo but it was actually that you need to use his old repo to because it is the repo that is up.

Exactly, I was going to say just that. All the repo's version does is install the 2 files together in one which the manual method does.

Just test out the repo first it should work, idk why it wouldn't.
