I wondered if that would work, editing the MinimumOSVersion of the info.plist, but never tried it. I'm sure some games/ apps have incompatible features or may be buggy but others I'm sure work just fine.  Thanks for the confirmation, and tip about the tweak to force install. Going to try that with really old iPad...

You can also download app from iTunes  on computer and it will give latest version available for your firmware, as opposed to trying to download directly on device's appstore.  If app version is real old may be best to do that first, then force install or mod that info.plist file.
