I would say activities. Physical & mental ones.

Like going to the gym, playing a sport you like, reading a book or gaming.

- Limit phone activites 

-Dont sleep late

-Have breakfast (REALLY IMPORTANT)

-Keep yourself busy (eg; gaming, or finding yourself a hobby that you enjoy 😀

-Keep yourself fit (going to the gym/self workout)  trust me you're going to gain so much confidence!!!

This is how I tackled depression, I did have to leave the army for it so I understand how difficult but also easy it can be to fall into a trapped routine that makes you comfortable being depressed.

 

Change your daily routine is the big key here. Try sleep before 12 midnight, wake up early, go for morning walks the fresh air will hit you like a train.

Exercise is something everyone will say but it honestly can be a major difference because of how much energy you use.

Change your diet. Try some newer foods. Try avoid junk food as the way to make you feel better.

Look for a new hobby outside of work or school that doesn’t involve you hiding in your safe space (usually your home)

Try avoid sadder music that can bring up sad memories, avoid sad movies.

 

Most importantly SPEAK to someone. If you can’t speak to someone then put your phone on record and sit in front of it and say everything on your mind. Then watch it back. It will show you what you can’t see.

I’d hope that this finds you well. Personally, if you’re constantly in a state of sadness and depression, then I’d suggest seeking professional advice if possible. If not, try find a way to speak about what exactly makes you sad or depressed. I’ve seen how negatively this may impact people, and most of the time this is a somewhat viable solution, but I understand if it doesn’t.

Changing your eating habits, diets, and more will most likely not help. It doesn’t help you address the trauma or whatever may be causing it. Do what you can, and whatever you’re able to.

Everyone is different. My friend says I have a Quentin Tarantino way of thinking. I hold expectations and place value into things that I can’t let go. I always need to find affirmation, seeking for the answer I’m looking for even after being given. If you can afford professional help, go for it. May people here have already said exercising, diet, and correct rest. All of these are key things but A part from that is attainable goals. Goals allow you to find small outlets of happiness. Achievements that you are happy to do. I put my mind to something and I stick to it until I’m able to do it, sometimes it backfires and I get depressed because I can’t But I find something else to focus on. Lastly I went on a 14 day meditation learning how to let go of everything and being able to equalize all things good and bad on the same level. It’s called Vipassana, it is offered in many states and countries for free, you don’t speak for 12 days, they feed you vegan and vegetarian and you follow a schedule from 4-9 of mediation rest and learning to let go.
