Regarding Raiding

Just curious if anyone knows whether your raiding actually affects another real player or not?

From what I've read on Reddit before, some people say whatever you raid is really taken from another player.

Another has said that when you raid, it's actually just a "copy" of that player's base and items, so whatever damage you do and any items you take won't affect them. When you're notified of someone raiding you, it's actually just the computer AI mimicking a player to choose what to break and steal from your base?

 

Both of these seem possible, just wanted to know if anyone has an info on which is true.

This seems correct to me as i’ve red a few fora that say players can only attack a computer. Houses with red roofs aren’t ‘real’ players so if I can’t see real players, they shouldn’t see me...
