General New study ideas, anyone help?

Hi!

 

So I've quited my current study, because I didn't like it.

They said in the beginning programming was a big part of the study, but I had to make prototypes allot & had programming only one hour a week.

What we did in the programming lessons was 'proccesing', not really spectacular but it was okay & intresting to me.

 

The thing I'm struggeling with now is what study to choose, I have to choose somewhere this month if possible.

 

I found two intresting studies.

 

Application Devloper

What programming languages I'll learn here is: HTML, HTML5, PHP & Java (Maybe more, but this the most)

 

Game Devloper

What programming languages I'll learn here is: C# & JavaScript (This is what I've found on the internet about it, nothing more)

 

I've a few questions,

- Does anyone has done one of these studies or is able to give me some more info?

- I don't really like gaming, but I do like to "hack" them, I find games intresting. Will it be a problem if I choose for Game Developer?

- Is there still work in HTML/5, PHP, Java? I've seen some online vacancies & I didn't really see that much for those languages (except Java, but most likely you needed to be a 'expert' on it)

- Why should I choose which?

Well I have a little idea.

I had a look at game developing but they mainly talked about it being the art side and then the programming side as to make a game you need both. The problem is you aren't going to be going into the big developers such as Ubisoft or something as that requires past skill and such. Instead you would be looking at indie games and making potential out of that. Unless you think you have a great game idea that is unique then making a good game could be hard so you need to see the potential it has for you.

Application developer would probably be website design and stuff but for me at least I don't like the way both of those head, so you may want to look at a different area... if you can find something.

You would have to start out small though obviously and that may not be easy.

I'm no expert but maybe something like application development may be the most interesting to you and what you may be good at.

I think we got a sepperate study for the design part of Game Developers, you work with them but don't do their job.

I think you're right about the second thingy, I won't be a big expert on developing games once done with study.

 

Also yea it's mostly web apps we'll build in the Application Developer study, which might be a good start as a new programmer, but I think it will be bored really quick.

 

There's not really something else on MBO niveau where I'll learn programming, which I actually want.

I am at MBO niveau on school & there's a study on HBO niveau, which is informatica.

But I can go to that study once I got a diploma on MBO niveau
