Yes. Once you unlock the watchtower you can gain access to the frozen zone and the 2 new wood areas. Make a few iron axes and pick axe so you can get the new trees and the metal deposits. It's a rare drop from the ore deposits. 5 ore = one bar.

It’s in the winter biome. It takes 10 hits to break one copper deposit   and u only get one ore from it  (just make 3 iron pickaxe )
