Some people watch the fillers but I recommend skipping them since they are not interesting and have nothing to do with the story.

Watched episode 1-100 and 450-Boruto, still knew what's going on the whole time. It doesn't matter how you look at it the plot is always the same as it all revolves around Naruto's and Sasuke's relationship. Boruto is more interesting, though you won't understand most of the references to Shippuden and older series
