Help/Support HTML and CSS with notepad++(solved)

So I am making a super simple HTML file as in "training".

When I made a HTML file i wanted to add CSS code without typing the CSS code inside the HTML code, as in doing.

<link href="#" rel="stylesheets" type="text/css"

But I dont know how... I did a file and called it styles.css and made it.

(typed the css code inside styles.css).

<link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheets" type="text/css"

That didnt work either,

I even tried posting the hole link in href but it didn't work either.

Any ideas?

If you anyother program for better and easier coding feel free to link me. i am using notepad++.

Nothing really, I Just want to color and font text. but dont want to mix it with the HTML code.

there is nothing wrong with the code, its just that i dont know how to connect them.(CSS and HTML)

Color and font text have a different syntax , the one in this post is for linking aka href

CSS is for styling of your HTML elements

i think i am going to get a new program that auto links,

if i type my css code inside my HTML it gets messy

Hmm, but messy is the best. I think, linking the 'style.css' would be, the user has to click on the link, then it shows your coloured font text which is not convenient ( taking this as a scenario)
