> Yes, I have fasted in my life for purpose of staying healthy.

Why do Muslims fast on Ramadan?

> I don’t want to say anything that I have not studied in depth but from what I have observed and learned from some of my Muslims friends. Fasting is an way to easy ones mind and body and dedicated oneself  to supreme force. I didn’t went depth into scientific reasons as I assume we all know fasting is beneficial to health.

1- we fast to strengthen our will of avoiding the wrong things, to walk a mile in the shoes of the poor and needy, when we sustain our selves from food we come to appreciate it and remember allah's/gods many givings 

 

2- as always following our prophets path pbuh, when he turn the jibla to the kaaba, where he fasted for 9 straight ramadan's

 

3- as mentioned in the quraan in many verses

Muslims engage in the teaches of fasting because it’s to believe that Ramadan teaches Self discipline/self control, and having empathy for those who are less fortunate and poor because not everyone in this world is born with a silver spoon. They show their compassion and generosity through sharing the same pain with the people who are less fortunate.

Yes I’m fasting and Muslims fast to understand how the poor ones feel and to really put us in their shoes as we all are human beings at the end of the day but we need to understand how others feel them we know how we feel our selves
