The boy who never walked

My mum and I recently moved. Our house looked old, the paint was falling off, and some of the windows were cracked. The chimney was falling apart, too. The yard was big, and it had a tree in the middle of it. The tree had no leaves, it was dead. We had to move here because my parents got divorced a few weeks back. I was old enough to choose where I live, so I chose to live with my mum. When I started going to school, I heard a lot of people talk about this little boy that died when he was 7. Some said that he never had the ability to walk, so he had to be in his wheelchair all the time. Someone said he had short, brown hair and blue eyes. Someone else said he lived in our house. No one wanted to talk with me, because of that. When in class, I sat in the right corner. No one sat beside me. I was the loner in the class. One day, a boy in a wheelchair talked to me during recess. I found it weird, because I had never seen him before. He had bright, blue eyes. He said his name was Josh. His lips and skin were a lot more pale than a normal person would have. I though to myself, maybe it was the boy from the story people talk about. That couldn’t be, he was dead. We continued to talk through the whole recess. He told me that I should watch out.

When I came home, that day, mum was cooking a stew. I watched her put all the ingredients in. A lot of water, potatoes, carrots, and a lot of other vegetables. Some meat, too. I went upstairs, to my room. The door was open, even though I closed it . It was probably just mum. I grabbed my phone and headset, and started to listen to music. She told me to come down and eat, but I wasn’t hungry, for some reason. I got chills as I walked down the stairs. It felt like I walked through a ghost, or something. Dinner was ready when I got there. I only took a few spoonfuls before I went back upstairs. I got the chills again.

Next day, I couldn’t find the boy anywhere. I asked the teachers, and no one had seen him. Some said I talked to myself yesterday. Creepy. The day went normal, exactly how it was before yesterday. Except for one thing. I saw someone in a wheelchair spying on me, from behind a tree. It was dark, and I could barely see the person. I ignored it, and continued walking home. Mum’s car was there, but I couldn’t find her inside. I didn’t really care, it was just weird. I went upstairs, and listened to music. I could feel my stomach growling like a beast hungry for flesh. I walked down, only to find no one. Mum wasn’t to find. Her car was in the driveway, though. I felt like I heard something from the basement. I went to check, and the door was open. The light was on. So creepy. I asked if she was down there, but no one replied. Since the light was on, I went down to check. I got chills, like never before. The stairs creaked. I had never been in the basement, before. The walls were bloody, and the floor was stained. I saw some bloody tools in the corner. This was one of the scariest things I had seen. Without thinking, I immediatly turned around, and tried to run upstairs. Before I reached the top, I saw a wheelchair. It was the boy. He was pale, his hair was brown, and the eyes were blue. He matched the description perfectly. I backed up. There was no way to run. I ran down, only to find my mum in the corner. Mum?
