thank you so much for the reply but i managed to get it into recovery mode by............... using a different port on my laptop haha.

it just reboots halfway thru the process. doesnt show the itunes logo.

i tried doing your steps with the sleep and home. the device apple logo stays for around 7 seconds then it turns off. if i am still holding the buttons it just turns back on in a few seconds. i cant hold the buttons down the 10 seconds. any ideas?
