After launching the app, you'll need to start the mirroring connection from your device. This is done differently on different versions of iOS.
iOS 8
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the control center. Look for AirPlay, tap on this, and tap on your computer's name. Underneath the name, you will see a mirroring toggle switch. Toggle this, and your device should now be mirrored to your computer screen. We have also noticed that the Airplay menu is a little bit different. You may have to open the Airplay menu again or scroll down a little bit after selecting your computer in order to find the Mirroring switch.

After purchasing a new device or upgrading your device to iOS 7, you may notice that the AirPlay menu is no longer accessible.
iOS 7 moves the AirPlay menu to Control Center. Control Center can be accessed by swiping up from the bottom of your device's home screen. This menu can also be accessed from the lock screen without unlocking the device.
