    Hello users,

     

    today is Judgement Day. Today marks the funeral of my Hard Drive and it's currently laying on its death bed. So I'm looking for suggestions on how to not completely be screwed over by this event! I don't know if it was something I downloaded or if it's just old age-laptop is 2 and half years old-so I'm shooting in the dark. I'm sure there are some computer wizes in here! 

     

    PS:I have a external hard drive but the owner is a douche and out let me use 90GB of 3TB of space on it. Complete moron. :/:wallbash:  :wallbash:  :wallbash:

    Have you done anything recently to the hardware such as defragging?

     

    Have you formatted and installed, ever?

    No

     

    Explain further.

     

    Just freezing on certain task such as scanning, diagnostics, and error on system preboot scan on Hard Drive. I also had random freezing on games a couple months back, except for that I don't have any signs of HDD failure but random freezes. :p

     

    Edit: And when I scan the Drive for errors it comes up clean so I'm lost on the matter.

    You may be right but I keep getting this alarm saying that there is a problem with my drive specifically but doesn't elaborate. If it helps I have 48 uncorrectable sectors. I can access everything alright and no files are missing but I also get a SMART error when preboot scanning is done so I'm kind of jostled. Everything else checks out. The HDD is the problem certainly. I don't if I should invest in a new HDD or laptop :p

    You could try doing a full format and reinstall of your OS, windows most likely.  

     

    This will clear up and 'rebuild' your "bad sectors" 

     

    Move your data to that portable first though.   ;)

    Try using crystal disk info, this program will help with letting you know the "health" of your hdd as well as give you plenty of other information (: to my knowledge and as castle stated freezing and errors of such can happen from anything such as downloads, bad drivers, even viruses if crystal disk info tells you your hdd is in good health I too would suggest a fresh install, for more novice users it in most cases solves basic problems of such! Best of luck OP
