Good afternoon everyone!

So as the title states, I will be in the market for a new laptop in the next month for my wife (Grad School) and looking for some suggestions from everyone. I have looked around at the new Macbook pro's and iMac's but not sure I want to go that route. I have owned both Mac's and PC's but my MacBook always seems to outlast my PC's in battery life and usability. This isn't something that we will be using for coding/gaming but will get the usual video/picture editing and some general use. I have also been over some newer HP's and Lenovo ThinkPad with work and really like both of those options. So, in short, I have no clue what I want but thought I would see what everyone suggest.

Thanks again,

Zare Out!

Hello,

If you don’t plan on Gaming, MacBooks are pretty good, though expensive. I believe that’s what most editors and video teams use. It’s pretty good for general use too, and you can always run Windows using Parallels or Boot Camp If you care about that.

You can run Mac on a Windows laptop too, but it involves a “hacky” method.

If you dont require heavy use, try "HP Probook 440 G5".

Its a decent laptop, charges pretty fast, and can leave it on for quite a while. If you're using video editing then go for the one with the GPU

See that's kind of my thoughts.  We haven't got into gaming on a computer and I have a desktop for my personal use if I want to start. This is something she would use for herself for school. I really just need this thing to last two years to get her through so I'm leaning to a MacBook Pro.  Thanks for the info!

I just ran through the build and spec. I ended with about $1300 for the top parts. That's not bad at all seeing as she wouldn't need most of that, and I could repair/replace if need be. This might be something I run by her tonight.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Not a problem. The laptop is nice but the only problem I have is that my University didn't see fit to get the one with the GPU.

Intel uhd is horrible
