I get the option to recover my saved progress but it wont pop up the key board and i cant type in the code to recover my account

Click on the little red guy icon on the edge of the screen. Then close the message that pops up. You should then be able to click in the box for the keyboard to open.

You can also tap the support button in settings then tap on text input bar, the keyboard will pop up. Close it and tap connect gamecenter to restore, now the keyboard will pop up normally. Hope it helps too
