Yes works. 

The keyboard not showing up: click on the red dude that shows on the side of your screen. And then click on the restore code area. The keyboard will show up.

I have the Jailbroken hack and it doesnt work as well,so i think its patched.

App purchase are disabled because the developers patched it a LONG time ago. So DiDA or anyone who helps crack the game can’t do much about it. 

 

Only solution: 

install the original app. Purchase 1 pack of of whatever pack is that you want. DONT open it already  

Install the hacked Mod. Restore your game.  And by clicking on the pack you bought from your inbox inventory it makes it become 10000 packs. So basically unlimited. 

 

So yes yes you DO have to purchase something using real money.

Is there a particular way to do this to ensure you don't lose your data when deleting the IPA file and installing the game from the app store, then going back again?

I don't mind spending a little bit, but I'd like not to have to start over.

Delete the modded app. As long as you are synced to your Game Center you are fine. 

Then install the original app. Restore your account using Game Center. 

Buy a pack or two. Don’t open them. It should stay in your inbox.

Go to some location using energy to make sure the purchase is saved on your server. 

Then delete the original app and install the modded app. Login to iOSGods account initially, watch ad and then Restore your account using your Game Center. 

Go to your inbox and open the pack. It will give you 10000 packs !

It is very safe as long as you have Game Center synced your current progress in modded app. That’s it.

One question for clarification, does the Game Center automatically restore when you launch the app (modded or stock) or do you have to turn on a setting somewhere? 

I ask because I tried it as you stated, but I still get the "service is temporarily unavailable" message when trying to get a purchase.  According to my payment account, the purchase went through, but in game it looks like nothing has gone through and no items show up in my inbox.

EDIT: apparently it there is an error with their Savings Pack... it just wouldn't process...  got it now.  Thanks again!

Yes game center should give you an option to restore your account when you first open the modded app. If the keyboard doesn't pop up click on the red dude and then keyboard thing to make it show.
