GFX eCommerce Application Feedback :)

[Crypto 7.7k]

Hey guys! I'm currently learning how to code in Java and for a small project of mine,
I'm designing an eCommerce Application using JavaFX. I finished the design
and wanted some feedback on the look.

Thanks!

Click the spoiler to see what the App can do if you're interested!

Spoiler

This open-source eCommerce Application will have pictures of the Items you sold. The user will be able to choose the amount of [item] they sold and it will appear on the bottom to calculate the price of every item(s). When the user clicks [send], it will send a .txt file to their server with the every item(s) sold! I'm making this so I can practice my Java skills.

What do you suggest?

As in eCommerce do you meant Stock? Something like TDAmeritrade. The whole ecommerce thing can go so many directions.

Depending on what you do. Persinally I prefer applications I use to have a sleek professional look to them.

The application's description is in the spoiler what do you mean by "Sleek professional"? Can you suggest anything like other fonts or the design in general

I got you fam.

It's an ugly mockup but I hope you get the point.

The UI looks pretty dated. Feels like something I would have seen in Windows XP.

For starters, learn color theory and study some schematics. I like that you're staying with one hue (blue) so keep that style, but choose different shades that blend seamlessly (you'll know once you study).

Modern UI designs utilize white space for a sleek and professional look. Perhaps shrink the font sizes a tiny bit along with the various UI elements.

This design feels rather cartoonish for an eCommerce application. Maybe sharper edges on the icons and little designs should help mature it a bit.

As for the font, I recommend looking into free application fonts (Sans-Serif fonts for the header and Serif fonts for everything else). If you want the paid fonts, I recommend Helvetica Neue, pretty much the standard app font. The font you chose currently looks like the font from Cat Mario.

For now, I'd say you should study UI design a bit to understand how to properly make one, but I see you already  have the basic framework down which is good. Great effort

Great observation @Goggwell! I'll definitely look into learning more UI Design (and everything you mentioned above) .

Thank you

@Goggwell The UI i designed was from a cheap website which didn't give me many choices to work with. Do you know any that are good for designing?
