An item being released in the game is different from being able to craft it. In order to craft an m16, you need tungsten bars, which have not been released in the game. So just because you can readily find m16's in the game, you are not able to craft them. If you craft them in this hacked version, you will loose your progress when you get stuck on the 95% loading screen indefinitely. 

To my understanding, the same goes for crafting above your current lvl. If you're lvl 10 and craft a military backpack, there's a strong chance that your game will be bricked when you next update it.
