I know the opposite is feasible, but I wish to create a .deb file from an .ipa file as I am planning to create a cydia repo and it is a requirement for the files to be in .deb format.

Thank you.

What do you want to do?

You can't make an app into a deb

You can't. .ipa is a app, there's a reason why .deb is not .ipa, because it's not the same. You mean .deb INTO a .ipa?

well it is definitely possible. I just want the best way to do it !

"It is definitely possible"

Do you know what a "deb" is? And do you know what an "IPA" is?

Do you even know how to make a deb?

Of course I know.

I create tweaks too for non-jailbroken devices.

Yes I do know and I create those too!

Just a proof that it is actually possible - see this tutorial: https://k2designlab.wordpress.com/2015/05/13/convert-ipa-file-into-deb-file-for-cydia-repo-distribution/

However, I was looking for a more efficient way of doing it !

Edit: I hate it, when you people are so arrogant at knowing everything !

Please explain what a deb file does?

To be exact, it decompresses in the root directory and places files depending on the deb itself.

What is an .ipa? An ipa is an application archive which installs directly.

if you just want to do what the link you sent does, there is no point in MAKING a deb for that. Its only a copy/paste job. If you want to make a tweak or so WITH preferences, then you CAN NOT USE THIS METHOD. For eg, a nojb ipa to a deb patcher cannot be done from what you posted.

Moreover, speaking of my arrogance, I have good reason to doubt your expertise, considering you are REALLY ambiguous about what you want to do. All you said is convert ipa to deb, which in itself there is no point.

Is there ANY OTHER reason you need to do that? Maybe making something like a cydia app which requires root?

Also, what you posted in exact terms is :

1) Make a control file in DEBIAN folder

2) Make a directory to where you want to install the app from root.

3) Compile it

In essence, thats exactly what we do with theos and if you knew that, you wouldnt need anyones help

It is needed because if you have a tweaked .ipa made by someone else and you need to add to your cydia repo, then it must be in the .deb format. Am I wrong in what I am saying?

The question is, do you have the permission of the person who's tweak you are uploading
