General About Jailbreaking!

Hi,

So many people on the forum seem to be confused on how jailbreaking, downgrading and stuff works.

Let's start from the beggining.

Every so often Apple update their iOS versions. So we started on like iOS 3.0 and it has progressed right up to iOS 9.3.1.

All iPhones below iPhone 4 are stuck on iOS 7.1.2 (Unless not updated) and can not be updated past that. Apple don't sign these phones anymore and have no further responsibility over them. (Never will they be updated again).

Any phone above iPhone 4 can receive the latest firmware releases ATM:

iPhone 4s, 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6S, 6 Plus, 6S Plus, SE.

When it comes to downgrading apple stop signing a certain firmware after around 2 weeks to 1 month of a newer firmware being released.

What I mean by this is... for E.G

Apple released iOS 9.1.. Then a few weeks later iOS 9.2 and 9.2.1 came out. Once the release of iOS 9.2 and 9.2.1 apple will stop signing iOS 9.1 which means you CAN NOT! downgrade to that firmware. It's impossible. iTunes will just give you an 300043 error or something when it get's to a certain point in the downgrade. When it comes to jailbreaking an iDevice, pretty much all older iOS Firmwares except 9.2, 9.2.1 and 9.3 and 9.3.1 are jailbreakable. The only people you want to trust on release of a jailbreak is Pangu, TaiG, iH8Sn0w and Luca Todesco (If he ever actually releases his own).

How do you jailbreak?

Jailbreaking is as easy as squeezing chips and only requires 2 programs to do it.

iTunes and the Jailbreak software created by either of the mentioned above. (I recommend subscribing to the provided youtuber to keep informed on latest jailbreak news).

Jailbreak Steps:

Connect your iDevice into your computer and load up iTunes.
Make sure you have "Find my iPhone" turned OFF!
Make sure you have disabled and removed any TouchID or Pass unlock on your phone as this can cause issues.
Once you have done the following download the Jailbreak software (Links will be provided and posted when they DROP).
Once downloaded open up the Program and wait for it to find your iDevice then click Start... Easy as that... Nothing else to do, anything you maybe required to do! will pop up on your PC Screen or your iPhone screen.

How do you downgrade?

Disable Find my iPhone feature from Settings>> iCloud

Download the signed firmware according to your device's model number

Connect your iPhone/iPad to the PC

Launch iTunes and select the iS device

Hold Alt/Option key on Mac, or Shift key on Windows and click Check for Update option, but not Restore iPhone option

Select the ipsw file you have downloaded in previous step

iTunes will now update your device to iOS *.* and verify it with Apple. Click Update

iTunes will downgrade your iOS device to iOS *.*

Once the process is completed, your iOS device will restart. Once you see Slide to upgrade, enter your passcode and wait until the downgrade process finishes. You might get prompt to activate your device

Also... IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO UPGRADE AN OLDER GEN DEVICE TO A NEWER GEN FIRMWARE THAT ISN'T SUPPORTED SUCH AS iPhone 4 to any firmware past 7.1.2.
