im going to sound like a idiot im sure but when using visual studio not all my pieces of text change color like you display in the pictures is that because you have set up fonts and colors to your own liking or am i not modifying the code correctly?

You need to install the proper extension for outline! If the format of the file is .xm, you have to change the format view to "c" because vscode doesn't support .xm color outline!
