Online

The title will require an online connection in order to play.This includes both singleplayer and multiplayer, as this will allow a player's friends to interact with them and their narrative. Up to 6 players can participate in an online session.

AllDrive will allow players to join each other, interact with each other, and participate in races with improvements being made based on feedback of its implementation in Need for Speed: Rivals. The AllDrive system will be supported with fully dedicated servers.

It was revealed, in a community update on the official Need for Speed website highlighting the delay in the PC release, that free content updates will be released post-launch to ensure that Need for Speed (2015) is an evolving and changing live service.

Snapshot

Players will be able to capture images using the Snapshot feature, and upload them to the Need for Speed Network. Uploaded images can be given a "like" by other players with each like rewarding the player that uploaded the image additional progression and currency.

Race Modes

Circuit Race - Finish the last lap of the race in first position.
Drift Train - Accumulate the highest drift score.
Drift Trial - Accumulate the set of amount drift score points before reaching the finish line.
Sprint Race - Reach the finish line first.
Time Trial - Reach the finish line within the set amount of time.

Rep. Points

Players earn points towards their reputation as they perform driving maneuvers, stunts, feats, and destruction. Certain actions will contribute to the player's reputation with each of the driving icons as well as their overall reputation level.

Reputation points are constantly added and multiplied, as long as the player is able to constantly repeat the required action. It is possible to perform multiple actions simultaneously.

0-60 - Accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill
Air Time - Perform a big jump
Clean Driving - Avoid hitting an obstacle for a longer time duration
Cop Chase - Initiate a police pursuit
Destruction - Vandalise property
Donut - Perform a 360° donut
Drifting - Perform a drift
High Speed - Maintain a high speed
Max Speed - Reach top speed
Near Miss - Avoid an accident with traffic or police whilst driving quickly
Oncoming - Drive on the oncoming lane
Perfect NOS - Perform a long nitrous burst
Slammed Cop - Ram a police vehicle
Slipstreaming - Stay behind the slipstream of another racer
Speed Matching - Match speed to that of the opponents'
