I guess this can be a real game-breaking feature if not updated, I was not aware.

Could it be worth it to get an app cloner and make a duplicate copy and mod only one and keep the other standard?

I downloaded it after it was already out of date so I don't have that same issue, so i can't really provide more insight, aside from erasing all content and settings after backing up your device and trying a reinstall/rejailbreak.
