Afaik, it's not possible to control the phone with airplane mode turned on unless they disabled the functionality itself. However, I would remind you not to install stuff from random sources, as well as to change your default root AND mobile password as soon as possible It's also possible that someone made a script to call/text a certain number or so which would in fact bypass the airplane mode
