You are doing the second method correct. However, you need to toggle off the option that says Unlock All Items before you purchase the items with the kloset item your wearing. This will permanently save them into the game.

She’s no longer is doing them if you checked her status post last month.

I think she means the patches and offsets that you would post. There was a person on another post who said you were no longer posting them.
