I backed up and restored my iPhone via iTunes. When I get into WhatsApp, it shows that there is no backup available. Yet in my iCloud storage it still says I have 197mb worth of documents and data saved. Maybe I did a step wrong or so, been a long day. I will try it again and eventually with a different iPhone too and let you know. But I don't quiet understand how the sim method would work? Can you enlighten me more on that method please, a step-to-step guide would be neat.

Hey guys! I'll try to keep it as short as i can. So heres my problem: since october 2016 till now (march 2017) i have been backing up my whatsapp chat to icloud. Now whenever i re-installed whatsapp and got to the point where it asked me if i want to restore chats from my icloud backup, it crashes upon hitting yes (it loads a little then crashes) I thought it happens due to my jailbroken phone (iP6 ios 8.1.2) maybe some other tweaks are causing it or so. It didnt really bother me tho since i didnt really need to restore the chats, as long as i knew its been backed up on my icloud. Now heres the big deal: Some chick opened a case to the police against me. I really need to get to those chat logs (mainly just need the chat logs from December) as there is an (more like a couple) evidence that proves my innocence so the case gets dropped. I tried it again with re-installing whatsapp, but still the same crash happening when i want to restore from icloud. As of today i actually removed my jailbreak and updated to the latest iOS, in hope that the crashing stops. But still no luck.. even worse, now it shows that it didnt even find a backup for whatsapp. The thing is, when i check under icloud settings/manage storage it shows me that there is in fact whatsapp chats and data stored on my icloud (its 197 MB as of now) i'm pretty sure that the needed chat log is on there.. i just cant retrieve it.. and i have tried a couple softwares to restore the icloud data on a desktop, including whatsapp messages, but it only shows me from the last week or so. Either its not fully showing me the chat logs from previous months, because most of these softwares offer a paid version too for more functionality but i'm not sure. Or my old chat logs have been deleted from icloud? Is that even possible? I mean once its on icloud its there to stay right? Unless i delete the data from the storage settings? I basically just need help to retrieve the whole chat logs from whatsapp from my icloud (from at least the last three months) Is there anyone that can help me here? Is there a way i can retrieve those chats from a couple months ago? By encrypting it via special software to my desktop? I dont even need it on my phone directly, as long as i get it with any way, i'm good. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
