If to take advantage of 5G you obviously need to be equipped with an iPhone 12, be aware that to make the most of iOS 15, you will need an iPhone XS or a higher model. Yes, Apple chose 2021 to start pushing the iPhone X towards release. The first model equipped with Face ID and the new design is now a thing of the past.
THE IPHONE X BRIDGED ON IOS 15
Indeed, it is not to say, Apple treats its users in terms of longevity and updates on its old products. iOS 15, which will arrive this fall, will once again be compatible up to the iPhone 6S but be careful, not all the features will be present. It might seem logical on such a distant model but wait it is not the only one.
Be aware that newer models like the iPhone 8 and even the iPhone X will not be able to take advantage of all the new features. Yes you read it correctly, I regret to announce that if you do not have at least one iPhone XS / XR, some functions will not be available.
Here are the new features that will not be available on the iPhone X:
FaceTime: spatial audio & portrait mode Wallet: welcome keys, hotel, office, car ...
Siri: offline support
Live text: text recognition on photos
Dictation: on the device & continuously
Apple Maps: interactive globe & immersive
walking routes & detailed new city experience
Weather: animated backgrounds
Here is the list of features that will not be available on the iPhone X and of course on the lower models. Note also that some lower models, including the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S will be even more restricted on other functions.
Even if it is true that the iPhone X is starting to age, it must be admitted that it seems very surprising that Apple decides to restrict it a little more this year.
For example, we suspect that the iPhone X is capable of displaying the new weather animations but Apple will not equip it with this function. Even more surprisingly, the new Live Text function will not be on the iPhone X either. Pretty ridiculous when you consider that this function is a copy and paste of Google Lens which as a reminder works wonderfully on this model and even on the iPhone 6S.
In short, you will understand, as said at the beginning of the article, Apple treats longevity in terms of security for its devices but Apple does not forget to remove certain functions to make us buy the new models (business is business) .
What do you think on your side? Do you find it normal that the iPhone X, still powerful enough for this kind of functionality, officially becomes an iPhone of the past from iOS 15 or do you find this action disappointing on the part of Apple?
