Same here! The only way I figured out to play is to put airplane mode or go to settings, click on plants vs zombies 2 and don't allow it to use cellular Data

usually for me it was 30 mins but now whenever I spoof my location I have to wait 2 hours. No need to keep your phone on

Also, as soon as it lets you use pokestops, you don't have to worry about keeping the app open. It will let you use pokestops as soon as you reopen the app so long as you don't change the location.
