It freezes the items as resources not items that can use instantly like can foods or bandages. After turned on the hack, respring and go to the game. Try create something and the items that used to create the new item should not go down. Best one would be cooking from the stove since you can see if the raw meats go down or not. Hope this help. Did exactly same thing on both iPhone 4S with IOS 8.0.2 and iPad Air 2 with IOS 8.1. iPad Air 2 works like a charm but iPhone 4S keeps crashing from app start, any idea?
