Ok, here's what I've tested:

Once turned on, the level will come up to 80 BUT that won't mean anything... YET. In order to get some true power out of this hack, u gotta equip ANY one item for each character - that way the Power Level will grow instantly.
These power levels will NOT work for Arena, but will for any other area.
Don't equip everything you have just yet, keep some for later - this hack stops working once you close and reopen the game another day, having you do all the Equip to Power Up thing all over, for each character. So, when you do this, keep in mind that you have to go as far as you can go with the Power Ups, which is limited by your energy and money to buy energy. Once that's done, u have no other option but to wait some time and - if that takes too long with the game closed - you WILL have to restart the process.
