I click on what I want to purchase go to home screen cancel purchase then close game and then open it and it doesn't say that it has been purchased

doesn't seem to work for me either. 

 

go into store> click mountain of medallions & hit home button> hit cancel on the prompt > close it from multitasking> amount of medals does not change.

 

It seems to be if you are connected to an account it will not work, you must delete and redownload it to disconnect from the account. Once I reinstalled it , the purchase went through.

Weird, i didn’t face that problem myself lol even though im connected to my game center account. Well anyway thanks for the tips, they will really help the ones who had problems with it ??

I was connected via FB, it said it couldn't connect via gamecenter. I was trying a bunch of other stuff  thank you for posting!
