I'm pretty sure that the mine's crash depends on your device. Tested on 3 different ipad. So if your device doesnt work, you may need to switch to a different one, like @@endlessy90 So to sum it

Still works for me with the food. I used IGG to search for the War Tactics (Healing 5500) for example and changed the value to -1500000 (Max food storage is 2000000 for me). Sometimes the game crashed but eventually I was able to buy the war tactics for -1500000 and my food amount turned positive afterwards.
