If it's anything like mine, doubt it is.

When you disconnect it from the charger it starts to lose battery pretty quick and the phone heats up. When that happens I usually have to turn off the phone and let it cool off before powering it back on. After I turn it back on, it goes back to normal.

I have to do this every time I leave my phone charging for a long period of time.

Try turning it off until it cools-down then once it does, power it back up and see if the battery is still draining fast.

Just a suggestion.

Do you have any apps turned on in "Background Apps Refresh"?

Have you tried a hard reboot (holding volume+power for 8 seconds)?

For me, it heats up when I play games while charging..

I turn off my phone to cool it off

You're not even supposed to use your iPhone while charging though. That's why the cables are damn short. :p

Lol, I'm pretty sure almost everybody does it

Yeah, I do too. :p

Is your iPhone charger original?

It is but I have used non apple chargers before? It's taken me ages to find a forum like this

Read the other replies also. :)

And I'm always with the mindset that using 3rd party charges will damage your battery because of the voltage or something. Apple doesn't like them either. Especially the fake chinese ones. It will show a popup to plug in an original charger if you use a fake/cheap one.

When I choose a third-party charger, I just make sure it's at least Apple MFi certified.

Can't be completely against them when they come in handy.
