Hello all. I have the chance to buy an ipad mini 4 128GB new out of the box. It says it ships with original ios 9. thats jailbreakable. I want to know does the ipad automatically update to latest ios 11 when turned on for the first time. Is there a way to stop it from self updating once I turn it on for the first time? I want to keep it at its original ios9 for jailbreak reasons. Thanks.

The automatic download of the latest iOS software updates seem to be unavoidable. iOS software updates download automatically in the background and then prompt you to install them.

Running Pangu on the device would block all iOS Update, if you buy the device Just jailbreak it straight away with Pangu, this will disable the auto iOS update, problem solved.

It's not a "have-to-update" i think

Basically, i downgraded from ios 11 to ios 10.3.2 about 2 weeks ago, and till this day It still asks me to update. It'll pop up every now and then, maybe every other day, I usually never get it anymore. Anyways, if you do get this, press something like set up later, enter passcode, and it wont ever update. I don't know if this is your problem, but I had something similiar to your problem. Goodluck.

Exactly. My question is: can I activate a fresh out the box iPad mini 4 without updating to latest iOS? Thanks for the many responses.

Yes. I understand the Apple iOS inevitable constant prompting and downloading. But I want to know if that automatic iOS updating occurs when you first activate the iPad device.

Why'd it automatically update itself? If it's an update, it will ask u if you want to install it
