Help/Support Broken screen

I'm not exactly sure if this is the best place to ask this question, anyway.

Recently my iPhone 5S' screen broke, so i took it to a friend of mine, bought a new screen and replaced it. However, before, when i broke it, the screen was kind of working, i mean it was showing some light under the screen, but i couldn't see anything on the screen.

Same problem occurs now, brand new screen, when i press the home button, i see some light under the screen but nothing else, it just doesn't show anything.

He told me that the crystal might be or probably is actually broken, i'm not sure what it is so yeah, any advises? thanks in advance

The light is the backlight which causes the screen to be bright, but they display itself is not lighting up meaning either the screen isn't any good or a cable isn't working or isn't plugged in.

I would think since its a new screen make sure its plugged in properly, both cables or they are broken.

@masterspad Take it for repair maybe? Or try what the reply ^ says.

You should go to an Apple Store (genius bar), do you have any assurance?
