I have to manually turn every mod I have activated off (and back on again, of course) before it’ll work after exiting and reloading the app.

I think I might of tried that but I will do it again. I have also uninstalled the mod menu but not the game because when I uninstall I fear it will prompt me to load an old save. But thank you I will try this again.
