To unlock new places on the map you need to go to the radio tower and build 1 electric generator . You then build it . There are a few steps you've left out that make me think you're playing the game wrong. Firstly you need to build the bike. Then you have to learn how to ride the bike, that involves levelling up in a certain location enough times to find that Experience Skill, you may get it at the first level up, or the final. It is random. Once you have learnt how to ride a bike, you then travel to your base, build a generator at your base, carry the generator to your bikes Heavy Rack, ride to the Watch Tower, carry it off of your bike's Heavy Rack, to the Watch Tower, connect it and that unlocks the first four new locations. Two you can access immediately, and two that you must learn a cold skill to access, this skill is learnt in the new forests.
