Am I the only one whose save data is constantly getting wiped? It works, sure, but the moment I close the app completely it's like my cache/data is wiped and the next time I boot up the game it's telling me to start from the beginning, tutorial and all.

Me too but just make a square enix account and link the save data to it. The only thing is that you have to login every time you reboot the app.
