It's working great for me with the latest version, if you can't get it to work, delete and reinstall the app first, put the save game in the Documents Folder, then open the app.

 

I already tried with different devices, so it should work.

I already did that 2 Times with non Open The App and with opening and play a min then apply the Files and it resetting the game and nothing! Using iPad Pro 9.3.3

I already did that 2 Times with non Open The App and with opening and play a min then apply the Files and it resetting the game and nothing! Using iPad Pro 9.3.3

 

Put the device in airplane mode, then replace the files, open the game and play a bit, then turn off the airplane mode to check

Sorry. I tried what you said and it never work and every time still resetting the game and starts from the tutorial level!
